Planning a wedding can undoubtedly be stressful, but like all things in life, you have the power to choose if the glass of wine is half full or half empty. Think of your wedding planning like a glass of your favorite wine–no matter what “challenges” appear, we want it to be full, right?!
One planning tool I found to be VERY helpful and fun to work on was the wedding storyboard. I’m a very visual person, so to just jot down a list of which flowers I liked, or what color combinations I loved was NOT going to work. In our case, Kevin and I weren’t sure on what theme or vibe we were going for until we had our venue booked–the gorgeous Don CeSar Resort and Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Now if you’re familiar with the hotel, it is PINK (see first pic below!). And fortunately for me, I love pink and was instantly inspired. Right away I knew I wanted a black and white wedding with touches of light pink. So thinking about your venue as the foundation for planning everything else is a good tip!
Also, keep in mind what time of year you want to have your wedding and if you want a day or evening wedding. Since we were having an evening wedding, I thought what more could be perfect than black cocktail dresses for my bridesmaids? My inspiration—none other than Audrey Hepburn, one of my personal heroes.
Once I had some critical to-do’s checked off of my wedding to-do list (which is an exhilarating experience–trust me!) I could start having fun creating my storyboard.
And here’s what I came up with!
You’ll get a lot of satisfaction having a visual goal to reach for. It’s overwhelming to imagine the DAY OF, so it’s nice to have a sneak peek of what you can expect on your incredible day!
PS: I even created a storyboard for the theme and look of my bridal shower:
